Dear Dad,
I remember the fun we had playing a game of chess.
So many times I would shout: “Checkmate!”
You would sit there in disbelief, trying to figure out what happened,
finally admitting: “Rosa, jetzt hat Inge doch schon wieder gewonnen!”
How I wish I could play another game of chess with you, Dad.
Over the years, you won many a game but you lost your final
battle 5 years ago today…
I will always remember…

We will never forget

Ein sonniger Tag, ich sitze in meinem Buero in Washington, D.C. (wo ich viele Jahre als Computer Programmierer/Analyst arbeitete), als Amerika ploetzlich unter Angriff steht: Schock… Entsetzen… Evakuation… Stau auf allen Strassen… vorbei am brennenden Pentagon… Kampfflugzeuge ueber uns… hinter uns… nah… Flammen… dunkler Qualm… Panik… Chaos… Entsetzen… Panik… Schmerz… Chaos… Schweigen… Horror… Schweigen… Schock… it seems like yesterday… So many innocent lives lost! We will never forget!
